NU Research and Innovation System (NURIS)

UW–Madison provided the following services and consultation to NU Research and Innovation System (NURIS), a subsidiary of NU, under the NURIS Agreement (May 2018–December 2019).

Business Incubation and Business Acceleration: Staff from UW–Madison Discovery to Product (D2P) and Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF) will provide consultations and recommendations on NURIS business acceleration and incubation programs and policies. NURIS staff will visit UW–Madison for a one-week internship with D2P and Madison’s start-up company, gener8tor, and staff from D2P, WARF, and gener8tor will visit NURIS. The goals of these two visits are to observe and gather information, share best practices, and develop recommendations for improvements.

Commercialization: UW–Madison D2P and WARF staff will provide relevant recommendations for program and policy improvements to NURIS’s Commercialization Office and its project review processes. A part of this consultation will include internships for two NURIS staff at D2P and WARF and the participation of two NURIS staff in the Morgridge Entrepreneurial Bootcamp. UW–Madison’s recommendations will focus on how these experiences and trainings can be used in the financing, patenting, and commercialization of NURIS projects.

Makerspaces: UW–Madison Makerspace staff will visit NURIS to observe and provide recommendations on improving NURIS Fab and Digital Creativity Labs.
